Job Purpose

Under limited supervision, the maintenance manager is responsible for overseeing all installations, repairs and upkeeping of all assets, equipment, machinery, vehicles, and facilities in general.  The maintenance manager will have a solid understanding of electrical systems, plumbing, and welding, as well as carpentry and other crafts.


He or she must effectively and optimistically contribute towards a positive and high energy work environment, providing exemplary hands-on leadership and mentoring, owning/leading all preventative and reactionary maintenance-related objectives, to include ensuring adequate traceability and transparency across all executions and the documentation thereof. This includes making important policy and strategic decisions, as well as the development and implementation of maintenance-related best practices, policies, and procedures.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Provide inspired leadership for the organization.
  • Support worker communication with the management team.
  • Promote and ensure a Safety-First Awareness and OSHA compliant facility at all times.
  • Perform daily inspections for safety and cleanliness.
  • Manage relationships with 3rd party contractors and service providers in support of maintenance tasks.
  • Provide oversight, guidance and immediate corrective measures for SOP adherence throughout all preventative and reactive maintenance related operations.
  • Understanding of KPIs, establishing, maintaining and reporting metrics monitoring department costs, equipment, facilities, machinery, tools and support personnel.
  • Monitor spare parts inventory and place orders for resupply as appropriate.
  • Responsible for facility security, maintenance reporting, housekeeping and setting/disabling alarm systems.
  • Ensure that all designated buildings, plant(s) and facilities are fit for purpose and provide proactive support/solutions when required.
  • Lead and oversee all machine changeovers to ensure timely execution thereof, and that the tooling/parts remain in good/functional condition.  
  • Report any and all issues regarding facility and employee relations to your Director of Operations or HR.
  • Supervise, evaluate and mentor maintenance personnel and machine operators.
  • On-going, continuous improvement initiative opportunities for overall maintenance efforts.
  • Control labor costs, overtime and manage stringent operational controls.
  • Effectively communicate scheduled downtimes and back in-service projections timely. 
  • Keep Director of Operations informed of any and all issues, concerns, changes and output productivity.
  • Other duties as assigned by manager or designee.

Qualifications & Skills Required

  • Four-year Degree a plus.
  • Critical thinking, analytical and effective problem-solving skills.
  • Naturally optimistic and self-propelled/motivated.
  • Must enjoy working within a high paced, multi-tasking work environment.
  • Experience in preventative and reactive maintenance (electrical, facilities and mechanical).
  • 10 years’ experience in a maintenance management role.
  • Strong knowledge of engineering concepts, including electrical, hydraulic and mechanical systems.
  • Experience with administrative functions and procedures.
  • Skilled in using a computer and basic application software.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.   
  • Must have Word, Excel and PowerPoint experience.

  • Work is performed while standing, sitting and/or walking
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 70 lbs.
