Logistics Import Coordinator

Job Purpose

The Import Traffic Coordinator effectively supports and coordinates all freight requirements, ensuring the best cost for the ideal level of service per shipment.  They will anticipate and troubleshoot problems, coordinate simultaneous plans, oversee scheduling, and develop solutions to workflow delays within the organization. They act as a liaison between different areas within the organization and ensures materials and/or orders flow through the company, strategic vendor partners, and/or customers in a timely manner, as required for on-time deliveries. This position reports to the Director of Operations, Supply & Packaging and is Logistics in nature

Pay Range$17 to 18 @ hour.  This is a non-exempt position subject to overtime.  We offer a full range of benefits including medical, vacation, sick, and 401k.


Duties & Responsibilities

  • Effectively support and coordinate all freight requirements, ensuring the best cost for the ideal level of service per shipment.
  • Ensure all special routing guidelines (if any), are followed for each customer to ensure shipment success
  • Craft substantive Bill of Ladings, as per existing SOP, and upload shipment details into the PM SW, as per SOP.
  • Effectively maintain a comprehensive shipping log, wherein, individual shipping costs are recorded.
  • Manage and schedule pick-ups and/or delivery appointments for all in-house and external orders.
  • Assist drivers as needed (i.e. directions, consignee names, addresses, phone numbers, etc.).
  • Build and enhance customer and customer and carrier relationships.
  • Ensure all inventory movements (orders, transfers, etc.), are systematically progressively transacted.
  • Report any and all issues regarding facility and employee relations to the Operations Director or HR.
  • On-going, continuous improvement initiative opportunities for overall Traffic Coordination.
  • Support worker communication with the management team.
  • Promote and ensure a Safety-First Awareness and OSHA-compliant facility at all times.
  • Perform daily inspections for safety, cleanliness, and supply levels.
  • Determine & Monitor orders to be shipped.
  • Keep the Operations Manager informed of any and all issues, concerns, changes and output productivity.
  • Other duties as assigned by manager or designee.


Qualifications & Skills Required

  • Four-year Degree a plus.
  • Critical thinking, analytical, and effective problem-solving skills.
  • Must be highly organized and detail orientated.
  • Naturally optimistic and self-propelled/motivated.
  • Must enjoy working within a high-paced, multi-tasking work environment.
  • Experience with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and other inventory management software.
  • 3+ years’ experience in working within a warehouse operations environment.
  • Knowledge of standard warehouse or stockroom practices and procedures.
  • Experience with administrative functions and procedures.
  • Skilled in using a computer and basic application software used in warehouse operations.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Must have Word, Excel, and PowerPoint experience.


Physical Requirements

  • Work is performed while standing, sitting, and/or walking.
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 25 lbs.
