The Purchasing Associate will be responsible for reconciling all inventory to ensure adequate supply levels are maintained and returns are processed in accordance with company needs. They will oversee the supply inventory levels and negotiate payment terms with vendors.

Job Purpose

Under limited supervision, perform a variety of duties associated with maintaining a safe, clean, well-organized and structured warehouse environment. Responsibilities will include, but not limited to providing exemplary hands-on leadership and mentoring, in additional to supervising shipping, receiving, stocking, distribution, traffic, and managing inventory, forklifts, pallet jack equipment and company vehicles. A special focus on ensuring a seamless and consistent systematic processing of all activities/operations, as per established Standard Operations Procedures.

 

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Promote and ensure a Safety-First Awareness and OSHA compliant facility at all times.
  • Ensure all inventory movements (orders, transfers, etc.), are systematically progressively transacted.
  • Provides oversight, guidance and immediate corrective measures for SOP adherence throughout all operations.
  • Understanding of KPI’s, establishing, maintaining and reporting metrics monitoring the warehouse operations.
  • Maintain robust cycle counts, accurate inventory levels, proper replenishment and reporting.
  • Track, log, audit all inventory product, ensuring there are no discrepancies or losses and report.
  • Responsible for facility security, maintenance reporting, housekeeping and setting/disabling alarm systems.
  • Report any and all issues regarding facility and employee relations to your Director of Operations or HR.
  • Verify purchase orders and tracks shipments of orders, supplies and equipment.
  • Accountable for productivity measures/metrics, KPI reporting, service levels from the DC to customer/account.
  • Perform daily inspections for safety, cleanliness and supply levels.
  • Responsible for outbound shipment audits and monitoring discrepancies.
  • Assist in receiving unloading supplies and products as well as outbound shipping loading.
  • Maintain computer and other records and files associated with receipts, distribution, returns, repairs, maintenance and disposal of parts, supplies and equipment.
  • Ensure forklifts are in good operating conditions and daily inspections are being conducted by certified users.
  • Supervise, evaluate and mentor warehouse staff/team.
  • Have daily communication meetings with your teams.
  • On-going, continuous improvement initiative opportunities for overall distribution and operations.
  • Control labor costs, overtime and manage stringent operational controls.
  • Effectively communicate to internal and external customers where applicable.
  • Keep Warehouse Manager and Director of Operations informed of any and all issues, concerns, changes and output productivity.
  • Other duties as assigned by manager or designee.

 

Qualifications & Skills Required

  • Four-year Degree a plus.
  • Critical thinking, analytical and effective problem-solving skills.
  • Naturally optimistic and self-propelled / motivated.
  • Must enjoy working within a high paced, multi-tasking work environment.
  • Must have forklift certification and Dangerous Goods Shipping certification.
  • Experience with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and other inventory management software.
  • 7+ years’ experience in full circle warehousing operations. Multi-site facility / personnel management a plus.
  • Knowledge of supervisory principles and warehouse operating techniques.
  • Knowledge of managing accurate system inventory concepts and understanding of financial implications.
  • Experience with administrative functions and procedures.
  • Skilled in using computer and basic application software used in warehouse operations.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.   

 

Physical Requirements

  • Work is performed while standing, sitting and/or walking.
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 75 lbs.
