Quality Control Manager

Job Purpose

 

The Quality Control Manager will be tasked with further defining and optimizing a first in class quality assurance and control policy, as well as building out a functional quality management system through a collaborative effort with top management and key stakeholders throughout the organization.   

 

Responsibilities will include, but not limited to effectively and optimistically contributing towards a positive and high energy work environment, providing exemplary hands-on leadership and mentoring, owning / leading all quality related objectives, to include ensuring adequate traceability and transparency across all quality assurance and control efforts, and the documentation thereof. 

 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Promote and ensure a Safety-First Awareness and OSHA compliant facility at all times.
  • Perform daily inspections for safety, cleanliness and orderliness.
  • Determine & monitor orders that must be subjected to a quality inspection.
  • Define metrics and implement processes to reliably qualify materials, products and/or customization service level conformity.
  • Establish, secure and maintain necessary equipment required in order to effectively determine material conformity.
  • Create and manage a non-conforming material reporting (NCMR) process, as well as corresponding corrective action and vendor compliance processes.
  • Work with purchasing, warehouse, operations and supply chain personnel to create a revision control process that clearly defines requirements for material disposition (i.e. stock, customized inventory and WIP); in addition to supply chain impact, and the corresponding roles and accountabilities therein.
  • Plans, organizes and executes all reporting efforts to support the quality management system (QMS).
  • Will be the primary performer of all QA/QC functions until the QMS is fully established.
  • Train, teach and mentor others on the importance of a quality first mentality.
  • Build and enhance vendor relationships.
  • Travel to and perform on-site quality inspections within vendor facilities.    
  • Establish key performance indicators (KPIs), to better gauge vendor compliance/performance.
  • Perform CAPA and RCA reporting per inspection.
  • Create, coordinate and adjust work schedules in order to optimize inspection assignments, on & off site. 
  • Report any and all issues regarding facility and employee relations to the Director of Operations or HR.
  • On-going, continuous improvement initiative opportunities for overall quality assurance and control operations.  
  • Keep the Director of Operations informed of any and all issues, concerns, changes and output productivity.
  • Other duties as assigned by manager or designee.

 

Qualifications and Skills Required

  • Four-year Degree a plus.
  • Critical thinking, analytical and effective problem-solving skills.
  • Must be highly organized and detailed orientated.
  • Naturally optimistic and self-propelled / motivated.
  • Must enjoy working within a high paced, multi-tasking work environment.
  • Experience in structuring and sustaining a Quality Management Systems (QMS).
  • 5+ years’ experience in working within Quality Assurance / Control.
  • Experience with administrative functions and procedures.
  • Skilled in using computer and basic application software used in warehouse operations.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.   
  • Must have Word, Excel and PowerPoint experience.

  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 lbs.
