Job Purpose

The Web Developer is responsible for coding and modifying websites - from layout to function based on various companies’ specifications. Proficiency in HTML, CSS, Shopify’s liquid and other web services and program applications are essential in this role. Once a website has been created, a Web Developer will assist with the maintenance and upkeep of the website.  The ideal candidate is a hands-on professional with strong technical skills and expertise as well as extensive knowledge of integration management platforms as a key feature to translate the project needs into client-friendly functions.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Create a website layout/UI by using standard HTML / CSS / Shopify’s liquid practices.
  • Constant communication with other colleagues in the business to develop and deploy their content – and ensuring there is a clear establishment of what can be created within what timeframe
  • Researching different software programs, maintaining software documentation.
  • Implementing contingency plans in case the website goes down.
  • Writing efficient code.
  • Maintaining and expanding/enhancing the website once built.
  • Handle all aspects of eCommerce including development and digital campaign implementation.
  • Lead the integration, management, and customization of eCommerce + ERP Integrations.
  • Integrate data from various back-end services and databases.
  • Start a new project from scratch and lead until it goes live.
  • Execute best Site Experience (UX/UI).
  • Perform UI coding, create reusable objects and templates, wireframes for web pages and email templates as well as manage maintenance, updates, expansions, and scaling of each design.
  • Develop and maintain detailed project plans and timelines to ensure high-quality experience on small and large-scale projects.
  • Excel at the creation of innovative and sophisticated designs as well as collaborative problem-solving.
  • Work with designers to match visual design intent.
  • Manage web hosting, domains, and SSL certificates. 
  • Research and develop long-lasting solutions that are highly efficient for the business.
  • Other duties as assigned by manager or designee.

Qualifications & Skills Required

  • BS in Computer Science.
  • Proven working experience in web programming for B2B and B2C websites.
  • eCommerce experience with Shopify, Magento, WooCommerce (other eCommerce platforms are referred).
  • Top-notch programming skills and in-depth knowledge of programming languages: HTML / CSS / Shopify’s Liquid.
  • Knowledge of Search Engine Optimization.
  • Knowledge of web hosting and domain name providers.
  • Ability to work and thrive in a fast-paced environment, learn rapidly and master diverse web technologies and techniques.
  • Strong organizational skills to handle multiple tasks within timeline constraints.
  • Project management skills to create, implement, and manage various projects.   
  • An understanding of consumer behavior is a discipline that the programmer must master. This requires knowledge of consumer psychology and behavior. The savvy Web Developer should understand the user interface, or UI, which is how the user will intuitively use each feature on the site.
  • Practical knowledge of website interfaces, cross-browser compatibility, and web standards.
  • Collaboration skills to work with inter-departmental disciplines and stakeholders of all kinds.
  • Strong understanding of Internet security best practices.
  • Project management skills to create and implement a roadmap for better user engagement.
  • A digital expert in web, email, social media, smartphones – and more.
  • Written and verbal communication.
  • Flexible and able to adapt to the fickle user or client behavior.
  • Analytical, methodical, and driven by data.
  • Good multi-tasker and a self-starter.
