Job Purpose

The National Account Manager will supervise and support regional managers to increase sales and profitability and are responsible for managing strategic customer accounts at a national level while maximizing all opportunities for sales within the accounts.

Duties & Responsibilities 

  • Ensure solutions to department level challenges are implemented. Set, implement and complete department goals.
  • Develop and implement long-term strategies and an annual business plan to capitalize on profitable sales opportunities and achieve year-over-year sales growth objectives with assigned accounts and product categories.
  • Develop annual quota, profit plan, and sales action plan and monitor actual results vs. plan throughout the year, adjusting when appropriate.
  • Create a sales growth strategy based on new product introductions and existing SKU expansion.
  • Drive outstanding marketplace results using benchmarking, category management & trade marketing strategies and strong business relationships with strategic customers.
  • Responsible for forecasting.
  • Other duties as assigned by manager or designee.

Qualifications & Skills Required

  • Secondary education, preferably in Business, or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 5-10 years’ experience in Account Management with a record of demonstrated achievements and leadership, preferably in the CPG industry.
  • Strong business planning skills and knowledge of the P&L process.
  • A strong work ethic, hunter mentality, and the love of sales.
  • A customer-centric orientation and excellent relationship building skills
  • Superb interpersonal, communication and presentation skills.
  • A positive, energetic attitude, Initiative, drive, and out-of-the-box thinking.
  • Analytical abilities are essential to identify business opportunities and understand the causes of any variance from the plan.
  • Extensive problem-solving ability is required given the new industry and ever-changing regulations.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask.
  • Demonstrated negotiation abilities.
